This week was pretty productive because all we did was work on our senior project. I feel like we have gotten about 75% of our project done and so far has been pretty easy, there hasn't been any barriers or anything that really challenged us. The only thing that has been hard about this project is keeping my google drive organized. But in all honesty i feel like there is way too much paper work or assignments for what the senior project involves. Why should i have to write 3 different proposal letters for a senior project? There seems to be a lot of extra work that shouldn't be needed. I feel like my time would have been better spent actually out in the community doing good and getting more time for actually doing my project. Just food for thought.

This week was primarily focused on projects, consisting of the identity project and starting to work on our senior project. The identity project went well and felt like we hit every mark we wanted to. Throughout working on this project we learned a little bit about identity but more about speaking, and how to communicate to the audience without boring them or causing them not to like you or what you have to say. Towards the end of the week we started working on our senior project. Ceci, Malloree, Matt and I, have been working on our senior project for about a month now which is that we will be going over to the middle school and talking to 8th graders about marching band and teaching them some technique so that it lights a fire and hopefully improves the size of the band for the following years. We have made a slideshow with just pictures of the past 5 years to show while we present. Also we have nailed down dates for our presentation and teaching and West. So it has been a fairly productive week. Still a little boring but we have learned a fair amount.
Week 3 was focused on a project mainly, taking a lot of time preparing for a project we know nothing about. We know it has to do with a big question we picked out but we don't know the endgame, where this is heading. We have been reading story after story and paper after paper preparing. So to me this week has kind of been a week without a lot of learning in 12B just because of the fact that we have been more reading stories and filling out papers for a project we don't know anything about. It has been a heavily thinking week. Reading all the stories and filling out the papers requires to think about how it relates to your big question. So we may not have learned a lot but we thought quite a bit. All the while we wonder what this "project" will be. This class may not have taught me much this week but i've had to think more than any other class.
We learned quite a bit this week about Identity, and how each persons is different. When it comes to identity you have so many things that can differ from person to person and it goes deeper than just your skin tone or gender or what traits that you've inherited.
We also learned about how to take "Cornell Notes" Which is where you take very brief notes in class and leave space to work later when you are studying or if you remember stuff later, So i imagine that that may be useful at some point in my life. We also did some work on figuring out a project that intrigues us because if we write about something or do a project on something we don't care about then odds are that the project or paper wont be very good. All in all i feel like it was a productive week and that i learned more in the first week in this english class than i have in any other english classes ive taken. |
